Jay is a strategic partner and executive communications lead, with deep expertise in visual and verbal identity. For over 17 years, he has helped organizations define roadmaps for reinvention, with a focus on planetary futures, health and public care, knowledge and civic life, and cultural belonging.
Prior to his education at RISD, Jay grew up queer in a rural lumber town which sharpened his ability to read context, listen for what is unsaid, and build trust across difference. That early comfort with ambiguity developed into resilient empathy and a deep respect for human complexity, instincts that continue to shape how he partners with institutions.
Jay is the Founding Brand Architect for HUM.AI and previously served as a Design Director and thought leader at Gensler, guiding initiatives for clients including Adobe, Google, and Gilead. Across his career, he has led high-impact design and communications work for Harvard Law School, Cleveland Clinic, Girl Scouts, and the Provincetown Business Guild, as well as national education initiatives for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs and the Dept of Edu, alongside a multitude of universities, cultural institutions, and science-led organizations.
Today, Jay runs an independent consultancy based in San Francisco, partnering with early-stage climate and technology founders, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and nonprofits to bring clarity, authorship, and care to the complex challenges our world faces today.
