Google Landings:
A Place for Resilient Design

Landings is Google's newest addition to its campus. This environmentally friendly building spans over 800K square feet. It includes a geothermal system for heating and cooling and a large solar array that will provide 28% of the building's energy needs.

Additionally, it transforms a section of Permanente Creek from a narrow channel into a larger riparian habitat. The architectural design features 15 interconnected sheds that seamlessly blend with nature, lifting from the ground at the center.

  • We collaborated with Google REWS, facilities, and project partners in conjunction with our Gensler brand designers and architects to establish our approach. It was important to represent the essence of the built environment while maintaining resilient processes and outcomes.

  • The logo distinctively reflects the roofline and shed-like attributes of the building. The visual system pulls from theses angular elements in a variety of ways, connecting the branding to the built environment.

  • We developed the brand identity, signage, wayfinding, naming conventions, website and marketing materials to ensure that the design cohesively reflects the new development.
