Gilead Vantage:
See Past Impossible

Gilead Sciences is a research-based biotech company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of innovative medicines. During the pandemic, bold strides were taken to modernize their facilities to be better equip for technological advancements.

The leadership wanted to ensure these steps and future endeavors were documented to provide inspiration to stakeholders and current/future employees.

  • We met with company leaders and staff to understand the scope of work taken during the pandemic to better frame the narrative around core value drivers. Various internal names were suggested, but we went the additional step in helping guide their thought process to create something more memorable.

  • Our recommendation was to create a book series in volume format to be updated biennially that focuses on on the latest developments of the company; in particular (but not limited to) facility renovations, science breakthroughs, employee features and exciting cultural announcements.

  • We developed and gave name to a campaign messaging strategy called “Gilead Vantage—See Past Impossible” to promote the campus modernization enhancements.

Like a contraction, the two words “Gilead” and “Vantage” elide to form the word “Advantage.” This beautifully signifies the series’ core mission; to align Gilead advancements with successful storytelling is their advantage. The campaign tagline also strikes a future-forward tone based on their current motto “Creating Possible.”

This became the first book in a series of publications aimed to highlight Gilead’s operational mission: to enable resilient spaces for their employees to create groundbreaking therapeutics that treat life-threatening diseases.
